Getting Ready for the 2013 Riding Season

Many hands make light work and help the horses come to the barn

PETSNewsImageVolunteers, riders and family members are needed to help PETS unpack and prepare the barn for the arrival of the horses and to start the new riding season.

We will be working on the following days:

Saturday, March 16th, from 9 a.m. until 2 p.m.
Saturday, March 23rd, from 9a.m. until 2 p.m.
Sunday, March 24th, from 2 p.m. until 5 p.m. (if needed – call barn after 1 p.m.)

Work done will include preparing the stalls, feed and hay rooms, offices and turnout. In the turnout area we will be repairing and reinforcing the existing fence line, along with removing the tree/branches, debris and trash etc. Work at the barn included cleaning and setting up the stalls, barn rooms, storage spaces, and various equipment used during the lessons.

Read why this time is so important to the program in “PETS Work Days.”

Proper clothing should be worn based on the forecasted weather. If it is windy, it can get quite cold in the turnout. We may be working in a wet area, so please wear/bring boots. If you have the following, please bring them as well: work gloves, needle nose pliers,  shovels, picks, other digging equipment, saws (both chain & hand), heavy duty extension cords, tree/brush trimmers, etc.

Volunteers, new and returning, can also bring their completed volunteer registration form with them to any work day.
