What is PETS?

PETS is a 100% volunteer run, non-profit, skill-based equestrian therapeutic program serving, at no cost, disabled children and adults of Prince George’s County, Maryland. In existence since 1982, identified as a PATH International Premier Accredited Center, PETS incorporates horseback riding and horsemanship in a multifaceted approach combining educational, emotional and social lessons. Using a skill-based approach with certified PATH instructors as well as trained volunteers with personal working experience in physical therapy, education and horsemanship PETS provides individualized instruction to a variety of riders experiencing physical, emotional, and educational disabilities.

PETS provides opportunities for individuals and groups interested to deliver the above services. Individuals can gain required volunteer service hours and civic groups can network and support county residents through lesson instruction and public relations events within a supervised setting.
